What Essentials Do I Need for My Yoga Class?
Originating in ancient India, yoga is a discipline that requires mental and physical strength. To practice this discipline, you must need comfortable clothes in general, but there are clothes designed explicitly for this discipline.
Like any discipline or sport, you need the essentials to perform the required skills. Although there is no specific dress code for yoga, you want your clothes to provide comfort, breathability, and flexibility. The following items are the essentials you will need in your next yoga class.
Sports Bra or Tank Top
You can combine both or alternate the sports bra and tank top for each class; it all depends on your needs and wants. Ensure that both deliver comfort, functionality, and light support. This will allow you to stay focused on enjoying the moment and not get distracted because the garment is not the right weight or fabric.
Use a sports bra for more basic to intermediate classes, and the tank top should be used to perform complex poses because you will need extra body coverage.
Leggings or Shorts
Experts recommend leggings for more body coverage and to practice complex poses. But you can also use shorts for basic yoga poses. When looking for both, opt for ones made with nylon, polyester, spandex, or a combination of the three.
Yoga Mat and Towel
This discipline requires yoga mats to ensure safety and comfort when practicing all poses. Mats used for yoga sessions should be mats specifically made for this practice. It should provide a non-slip and cushioned surface. When possible, opt for an eco-friendly, decomposable, recyclable and decomposable mat.
Experts recommend a microfiber yoga towel to prevent slipping, especially during hot yoga practices. Also, an extra regular towel would come in handy to clean your excess sweat after your yoga session.
