Sublimation printing has become a more convenient way to produce clothing at a much faster and cheaper rate. At first, it’s a blank t-shirt, and then magically, it has print on it. Various industries are using this magical process to get customers what they want.

What is sublimation?

Sublimation printing is the method of moving a design from sublimation paper onto a fabric of choice by applying heat, pressure, and ink. This method has become incredibly popular over the past few years in the apparel world as it goes down to the seams.

The process

The first step is to decide what design you would like to be put on the paper that would then end up on your apparel. The design is then printed on the fabric through the use of heat and pressure. The heat opens up the pores of the fabric allowing the pressure to push into the seams for a more permanent stay.

Finally, the fabric will be released, and the paper will be removed from the fabric. Once the design has become cooled down and solid, it will not fade, crack or wash away. It is permanent, almost like a tattoo.

With sublimation printing, the producer has all the control over how and what they want their clothing to look like. Almost any design can be created using sublimation printing.

Sublimation printing is long-lasting and can withhold the washing machine without becoming damaged. It will still look brand new even after multiple washes.

Cons

The cons deal with the material that the t-shirts are made out of. The prints only use polyester and sometimes cotton.

With sublimation printing, it goes into the fabrics. If the printing does not go all the way into the fabric, you will end up with white fabric, where the area that does not get the printing will stay white. To stay away from this problem, make sure the fabric is not folded in ways that you do not want it folded.
